Gatherings

Small rooms, long tables, slow mornings.

I design workshops and gatherings where people write, cook, eat and talk — and usually leave knowing someone they didn’t before. Most have twelve seats.

How a morning goes

  1. Tea, and names

Everyone arrives to a pot already steeping. We go around once — your name, and a word you love in any language.

  2. Something with our hands

We cook, fold, plant or write by hand together. It’s easier to talk when you’re busy.

  3. Writing time

A prompt, a quiet half hour, and an invitation (never a requirement) to read aloud.

  4. The long table

We eat what we made. This is usually when the real conversation starts.

Bring a gathering to your people

I design workshops and gatherings for libraries, schools, festivals, community organizations and teams. Tell me who’s coming and what you hope they’ll leave with.

Hear about gatherings first

A letter every now and then: a friendly music, the next gathering before it’s announced, and something I’ve been reading.

No spam, ever. Leave whenever you like.

You’re on the list. The next letter will find you.
